BASIC FRENCH PROGRAM - GRADES 4 - 6
Mme. Pelley
The students from grades four to six use the "Visages" program, which is an activity-based core French program. Through its student-centered approach to second language learning, "Visages" is intended to foster, in the student, a positive attitude toward the learning of French and an awareness of French culture, traditions and history.
Each grade level studies a variety of themes intended to foster a number of strategies that will enable students to comprehend written and spoken French.
As well as participating in class, students may participate in occasional lunch hour enrichment activities, which allows them to further stimulate their general knowledge of French. Other French enrichment activities at the school and divisional level are also offered throughout the school year.
At Dalhousie School, all grade 5's visit the site of Le Festival in St. Boniface to partake in Le Festival du Voyageur. Also, every year grade 4-6 students have the opportunity to participate in a French public speaking contest, or Le Concours d'art oratoire. Such activities are described in more detail in our school newsletters throughout the year.
